Working with creative organisations and charities across the East Midlands, YSP Media’s Christopher Bevan has regularly acted as a mentor, course leader and filmmaking workshop facilitator for young people aged 8-19 across a wide variety of film related education and participation initiatives. One of the great joys of leading and supporting across these projects is seeing the development and enjoyment of the participants and watching them embrace making films, learning new skills and developing confidence. Take a look below at just some of the creative filmmaking courses and projects Christopher has been involved with, including working as the Course Leader for BFI Film Academy at QUAD in Derby.

BFI Film Academy - Derby QUAD (Course Leader)

Christopher has worked as Course Leader for the BFI Film Academy at Derby QUAD since October 2021. The academy is targeted at 16-19 year olds looking to break into the film industry and develop their skills across a range of disciples. During the fourth month course between October-January, students are given the opportunity to learn key filmmaking skills, invited to talks with industry guest speakers, attend film screenings and develop their own short scripts and films which for many act as their first step into a career in film. In addition to the BFI Film Academy course each student undertakes the Silver Arts Award, a qualification which can help with career prospects and gaining further experience. Chris is fully trained to assess Bronze/Silver Arts Award.
